7 Hidden Treasures: Coins in Your Wallet Worth More Than You Think:
1943 Bronze Lincoln
There have only been a few of these metal pennies found, and Lutes's is one of them. Stone said, "The most valuable Lincoln cent was sold privately in 2010 for $1.7 million."
1969-S Doubled Die Obverse
Doubled dies are formed when the hub misaligns a die or stamp with a second image. James Bucki, a coin specialist at The Spruce Crafts, told CNBC Make It that minting errors cause the doubling.
1992 Close AM Reverse
The right foot of the "A" and the left foot of the "M" in "AMERICA" touch on the back of the 1992 Close AM, Stone said. (Those letters are very clearly separated on most pennies made that year.)
1972 Doubled Die Obverse
Similar to the 1969 Doubled Die, Stone said that the words "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are the ones on this penny that have the most doubling. The date also has some doubling.
1995 Doubled Die Obverse
The doubling isn't as clear on these coins as it was on the 1972 Doubled Die coins, but Bucki said it's very clear in the word "LIBERTY," especially in the letter "B." The date also has some light doubles.
1999 Wide AM Reverse
For the regular run, Bucki said, the letters "A" and "M" in "AMERICA" were supposed to be close together, while for the special proof coins, there was supposed to be more room between them.
1983 Double Die Reverse
This is notably evident in ‘ONE CENT’ and ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM.’ Bucki remarked, "You're seeing double."Approximately 250,000 pennies were produced, he claimed. Used coins sell for $75 or less, while cleaner ones sell for $200.
