NBCUniversal Might Expand ‘Suits’ Universe With Aaron Korsh's New Show

Suits has broken streaming viewing records for four months, making it the most popular show. After the September 2019 Suits finale, the franchise is planning a comeback.

Sources tell Deadline that Aaron Korsh is developing an NBCUniversal Suits spinoff. Despite ongoing negotiations, the project is likely to be fast-tracked with a strong commitment.

Sources indicated the new legal procedural would be a Suits universe series like CSI and NCIS with fresh characters and a new locale, unlike the 2019 Pearson. Los Angeles is reportedly a workplace drama setting.

In Suits, famed attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) hires university expellee Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) to his law office after being impressed by his photographic recall. The nine-season sitcom stars Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty, and Gina Torres. Torres starred in a short-lived spinoff, Pearson.

The possible new series' network or platform is unknown, like with most NBCUniversal development. USA Network showed Suits and Pearson. They were made by Universal Studio Group's UCP. UCP, where Korsh worked for years with back-to-back overall contract, is reportedly discussing the new spinoff.

After years on Prime Video and Peacock, Netflix acquired the first eight seasons of the show in an unassuming, modestly priced ($200K-$400K an episode) second-cycle non-exclusive deal this year and shared them with Peacock. What followed was a lightning strike.

Even Suits creator Aaron Korsh seems surprised by his series' runaway success in its second season, which may have been fueled by curiosity over Markle's final role before becoming a British royal, the series' breezy, addictive storytelling, and memorable characters, and a summer launch when popcorn fare has always thrived.

“I always thought we were underestimated, but it turns out, even I underestimated #Suits,” he tweeted after Deadline reported his show's newest streaming record. UTA, Literate's Dennis Kim, and Mitch Smelkinson represent "It's Good to Be King Korsh."
