Underrated Parks to Explore Around the United States

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TEXAS

Big Bend National Park in Southwest Texas is harder to approach than others. This distant position has kept it a hidden gem and one of the most undervalued US national parks.

CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK, UTAH

Canyonlands, with many districts, is one of our most underrated national parks. The Island in the Sky, The Needles, The Maze, and the Green and Colorado Rivers have different views, activities, and entrances.

CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK, UTAH

Capitol Reef National Park is another underappreciated but amazing Utah national park. The park is two hours from Bryce Canyon National Park and off-roading paradise Moab in the southern portion of the state, where there are many more natural wonders.

CHANNEL ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA

Channel Islands National Park includes five of the eight Channel Islands off southern California: Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Barbara.The islands are secluded and have no transportation.

CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK, OREGON

Crater Lake is one of the most undervalued US national parks due to its remote position in Southwest Oregon's Cascade Range.Over 7,700 years ago, Mount Mazama, a 12,000-foot volcano, erupted, creating Crater Lake.

CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK, OHIO

Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio's only national park, is underappreciated. Since 2000, it has been a national park along the Cuyahoga Valley River between Cleveland and Akron.
