A simple hanging basket on your front door welcomes spring and guests. Hanging basket gardening is a simple method to brighten your yard without a major garden plan.

It is possible to create a lovely plant arrangement by using a wire hanging basket or a coco fiber basket that has a coco liner.

You can put together different groups of your favorite plants, but make sure they will grow well where you want to hang the basket.

Choose a larger hanging basket that matches your home to hold water better. Standard hanging baskets are 8–24 inches wide and composed of wire, coco fiber, or plastic. Sphagnum moss, coco fiber, burlap, plastic, and pressed paperboard line wire baskets.

Porous sphagnum moss and coco fiber dry out faster than pressed paperboard or plastic, but softer materials make planting holes simpler outside the basket. Sphagnum moss baskets should be assembled first. Before planting, drill drainage holes in paperboard liners.

Your garden might feature a hanging basket in two ways. Install a hook on a porch, patio, or deck ceiling or wall or hang it from a ground-mounted shepherd's hook.

Hooks can be planted wherever height and color are needed. Remember that a wet basket full of plants is heavier than a dry basket, thus your hook must support it.

Lightly fill the basket with potting mix. Potting mix can be purchased or made using equal parts peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. You can skip semiweekly water-soluble fertilizer treatments with slow-release fertilizer in some prepared combinations.
